Facilities

All rooms are bright and spacious and are fitted with viewing windows to give parents an ideal bird’s eye view of their child without disturbing them

The nursery provides children with opportunities to work in both small and large groups and by themselves. We strive to ensure that our children feel secure and valued and that we establish and maintain positive relationships with parents.

All activities are conducted through the medium of both Welsh and English resulting in all children learning the basics in their second language. All activities undertaken at the nursery are first and foremost designed to ensure the maximum fulfilment and enjoyment of each and every child.

Baby Roo

This caters for babies to pre toddlers and incorporates a sleep room for those quiet moments. The room is divided with a soft padded carpeted area, which is great for exploring and playing and a soft lino area for simple painting and craftwork. The room is equipped with all the necessary toys and equipment to enhance and develop the participating child’s individual learning stage. The birth to three matters framework is followed in this room.

Oen Bach / Oen

Each room caters for toddlers and pre schoolers respectively and follows themes for approximately six weeks at a time.

Because there is a key worker system in place, a planned curriculum is put together to meet the individual needs of each child. The activities provided are designed to give opportunities for teaching and learning both indoors and outdoors.

Children will be given opportunities for developing and learning through both free play and structured learning and will be encouraged to develop as individuals as well as learning the importance of playing together and sharing. The emphasis will be on what the child can do and learning experiences will build on what each child already knows.

A positive feeling towards learning will encourage children to continue learning and not to be afraid of new experiences. Children are involved in activity planning and undertake activities planned by us along with those which they have initiated.

Outdoor Play Space

The outdoor play area is large, secure and is a safe area for children to play in. This area will be developed to promote the ethos of learning through play. The children have the benefit of playing in a soil pit, sand pit, water tray and wood bark chips. The children will have the opportunity to plant vegetables, fruit and flowers. Many of the activities that are planned will be undertaken outside. Parents are advised to wrap their children warmly during cold weather.

We also have a separate area for the smaller children to play in with padded mats for the younger ones who haven’t quite found their feet.

Superstars Breakfast, After School and Holiday Club

The club is open to children aged between four and eleven years and is located on the first floor of the nursery. The Club is registered with the Welsh Assembly’s Care and Social Services Inspectorate of Wales and can accommodate up to forty children with a staff : child ratio of 1 : 8.

The club aims to provide a safe and stimulating environment and the activities undertaken are fun and will enhance the development of those attending. If the weather is good, many of the activities are conducted outdoors. Some of the indoor activities include word searches, quizzes, art and craft, X Factor role play and board games.

Children are escorted to school if they have attended Breakfast Club and they will be collected at the end of the school day if they are attending After School Club or they will be met from the bus at the end of Green Lane.
